Exterior wall load bearing capacity for mobile home

I have a mobile home that was manufactured in probably the late 70's. We are looking at putting a new roof system on the trailer and am wondering if I can set pony walls on top of the trailer exterior walls for the roof system or if I will need vertical support from the ground, such as posts.
