I remember reading somewhere that a mobile home in California must be retrofitted with earthquake support before it can be sold. It this true?

Selling requirements - earthquake bracing

No, Earthquake bracing is not a requirement. However, if you want earthquake insurance, it might be required by the Insurance Company.

In Ventura County it is not Required by law. The only things that are required are smoke detectors and water heater strapped and braced. It may be different in different counties.
